Who conducts evaluations

As a physician, Dr. Andrew Patel offers online ESA evaluations across more than 25 states. He signs letters as well and is also the medical reviewer of this site's health pages.

Gabriel Warner, LCSW brings a clinical social work background to online ESA evaluations, with attention to each person's particular circumstances.

When you book, the scheduler shows which clinician can see someone in Texas. We make no claim about licensure in any state beyond what's printed on your letter.

How decisions get made

Each clinician reaches an independent judgment about whether a letter is clinically appropriate. Money doesn't steer that call: charges apply only if a letter is actually issued, and $129 covers one or two animals.

Clinicians can and do decline when a letter doesn't fit. That works in your favor, since a letter written without a genuine assessment won't hold up once a landlord looks closely.

Checking a license as a Texas landlord

HUD and DOJ's joint 2004 statement permits a landlord to request dependable information when a disability-based need isn't apparent. Confirming the letter writer's license is a reasonable piece of that.

  1. Find the license lineEach letter prints the clinician's license category, license ID and the granting state.
  2. Match it to a boardThe Texas Medical Board lists physicians licensed here. The Behavioral Health Executive Council lists Texas social workers, counselors, psychologists and marriage and family therapists. A license from elsewhere is checked with that state's board.
  3. Run the free lookupSearch by name or number. Results show whether the license is current, its expiration date and any public disciplinary history.
  4. Loop in the tenantIf something doesn't line up, the tenant can write to support@esalettertx.com. Their health details stay private unless they decide to share them.

What stays private

Confirming a clinician's license is fair game for a landlord; your diagnosis and treatment records are not. Texas landlords generally can't question what a disability is or how severe it is.

When a reasonable accommodation is refused, a Texan has one year to file a written complaint with TWC's Civil Rights Division.

Common questions

Do your clinicians hold Texas licenses?

Your letter carries the signer's license category, license ID and granting state. Booking confirms which clinician can see Texas residents, and anyone can check that license with the issuing board.

Am I able to pick my clinician?

The scheduler shows which clinicians are open for Texas and when. Questions before you book can go to support@esalettertx.com.

Where can a landlord look up a Texas license?

Physicians appear in the Texas Medical Board lookup. Social workers, counselors, psychologists and marriage and family therapists appear through the Behavioral Health Executive Council. Licenses from other states go through those states' boards.

Does every person who books get approved?

No. Each clinician judges whether a letter is clinically sound. If not, you owe nothing and receive no letter.

Who checks the health information on this site?

Our condition and health pages are medically reviewed by Andrew Patel, M.D.

Does my landlord receive my medical records?

No. The letter confirms you need the animal, and your diagnosis and records stay with you unless you choose to share them.
