Who we are
About ESA Letter TX
ESA Letter TX does one narrow thing. We pair Texans with a licensed clinician who decides whether an emotional support animal fits their mental health needs, and we write a housing letter only when the answer is yes. Everything on the site is built around Texas statutes and Texas renters rather than a one-size national template.

Why we only cover Texas
National ESA sites tend to flatten every state into one script. In Texas, a housing request sits under two statutes at once: the national Fair Housing Act plus the state's own version in Property Code Chapter 301, which the Texas Workforce Commission enforces through its Civil Rights Division.
Texas also punishes people who pass an untrained animal off as a trained assistance dog, under Human Resources Code §121.006. Our guides show where that statute reaches and where it stops, so the request you hand your landlord holds up.
What happens when you book
You pick a time, then talk with a clinician by phone call or video chat. Expect questions about symptoms, sleep, routines and what your animal changes for you day to day. That conversation, not a checkout page, determines whether a letter is written.
- Approved letters come as a signed PDF, often within hours.
- Each letter prints the signer's credential, license number and licensing state.
- When the clinician concludes an ESA isn't a fit, nothing is written and nothing is charged.
- A letter for on-campus housing is also $129.
Things we refuse to sell
Our shop has no vests, ID badges, wall certificates or registry entries. No Texas or federal office maintains an ESA registry, so a paid listing does nothing for a lease request.
Psychiatric service dog letters aren't offered here either. A service dog has been trained for specific disability tasks, while an ESA supports you through companionship alone. We bring up service dogs only to draw that line clearly, since blurring it can lead to a misdemeanor charge in Texas.
The clinicians
Dr. Andrew Patel is a physician; his M.D. was conferred in 2015 by Windsor University School of Medicine. He evaluates patients online for ESA letters across 25-plus states, signs letters, and performs the medical review of our articles.
Gabriel Warner holds an LCSW credential and also sees patients online for ESA evaluations. At booking, the scheduler shows which of them can currently see someone physically located in Texas.
Straight talk about outcomes
No letter can force a landlord's hand. Under HUD's May 22, 2026 enforcement memo, federal investigators now judge untrained ESA requests individually, and some housing providers may now charge fees. Better to hear that now than after you pay.
You also won't find invented numbers, star ratings or customer quotes on this site. When a statute or agency position shifts, the affected pages get rewritten and re-dated.
How to reach us

Common questions
Are you a law firm or a state agency?
We're neither. We set up clinical evaluations and issue letters when a clinician approves one. Our articles describe Texas and federal rules in general; for advice on your own dispute, talk to a lawyer.
Do your clinicians hold Texas licenses?
We don't make blanket claims about where anyone is licensed. Your letter itself names the signer's credential, license number and licensing state, and the scheduler confirms who can see a patient in Texas.
What does it cost if I'm not approved?
Nothing. Scheduling is free, and the fee kicks in only after a letter has been written for you.
Can a student use your service for a dorm?
Yes, campus housing letters are $129. Texas universities often require their own form as well, so ask your school's disability office what it wants before your visit.
Why don't you offer ESA registration?
Because it has no legal effect. What a housing provider may reasonably request is trustworthy documentation of a disability-related need, and an evaluation is how that documentation gets created. A database entry or vest adds nothing.
Who fact-checks the articles?
Writers work from statutes and agency documents, and Dr. Patel medically reviews health content. Our editorial process page lays out each step.
