What the price includes
Each price is all-in for that letter. It covers:
- A five-to-ten-minute talk with a licensed clinician over video or by phone

- A signed PDF naming your animal or animals and showing the clinician's credential, license number and licensing state
- Access to support@esalettertx.com for questions about your letter
Why you pay nothing without a letter
Not everyone who books ends up with a letter, and that's how a real evaluation should work. A clinician who rubber-stamped every request wouldn't be giving you something a Texas landlord can trust.
That's why holding an appointment costs nothing and billing waits until a clinician chooses to sign. If they don't, you walk away with no charge.
| Option | Price | Best fit | When you're billed |
|---|---|---|---|
| ESA letter, one or two animals | $129 | Texas renters with one or two emotional support animals | After the clinician signs |
| ESA letter, three or more animals | $199 | Households asking to keep three or more ESAs | After the clinician signs |
| College ESA letter | $129 | Students requesting an ESA in campus housing | After the clinician signs |
| No letter issued | $0 | Anyone the clinician doesn't recommend for an ESA | Never |
Costs that come from elsewhere
Our price is the only fee for the letter itself, but other costs can show up once you make your housing request. In May 2026, HUD stepped back from its old view that ESA households were always shielded from pet fees, so some Texas landlords may now ask for a deposit or monthly animal rent for an untrained ESA. Any damage your animal causes is your responsibility either way.
Cities may also require pet licensing or vaccination records, and many colleges ask for those before an animal moves in.
Things you never need to buy
Texas has no ESA registry, and federal law doesn't create one either. You don't need:
- An online "registration" or certificate number
- An ESA ID card or a vest
- A subscription to keep a letter active
Common questions
Is there a separate charge for the evaluation?
No. The evaluation is part of the letter price. If no letter is issued, there's no evaluation fee either.
Why does a letter for three animals cost more?
Pricing has two tiers. Any letter that lists three or more emotional support animals falls in the $199 tier; one or two animals stay at $129.
Is the college letter different from the housing letter?
It's written with campus housing in mind, since Texas universities tend to send ESA requests to a disability or accessibility office first. It costs $129, just like a standard letter.
Do I pay again to renew?
A renewal is a fresh evaluation, so the standard prices apply. You're still billed only if a new letter is issued.
Do you offer refunds?
Since nobody is charged until a clinician signs, refunds rarely come up. See our refund policy for the details of how we handle specific situations.
