Our standards

How we research, review and update content

People in Texas rely on these pages when deciding where to live and what to say to a property manager. So each article begins with the statute, regulation or agency notice itself, never a secondhand summary from another website.

  • Booking is free, and you pay $129 only if a letter is issued
  • Signed PDF letter, usually the same day
  • Licensed clinicians, license number on every letter
  • 5–10 minutes phone or video visit
  • Same day signed letter, usually
  • $129 covers up to 2 animals
  • $0 upfront pay only if approved

Where our facts come from

We cite originals and link to them so you can verify every key point. On the Texas side, that means the official text of Property Code Chapter 301, Human Resources Code Chapter 121 and enacted bills such as H.B. 4164 (2023). Federally, it means HUD memos, Federal Register notices, the HUD/DOJ joint statement from 2004 and the Code of Federal Regulations.

  • Texas agencies like the Workforce Commission and the Medical Board
  • Federal agencies like HUD and the Department of Transportation
  • City fair housing offices and campus disability policies for local guides
  • Never a forum thread, a rival's blog or an undated summary on its own

From research to publication

  1. Gather sourcesThe writer collects the primary documents and logs each fact next to its link and the date it was checked.
  2. Drop what can't be confirmedA claim that no official page supports stays out of the article rather than being guessed at.
  3. Write for TexansDrafts explain what a rule means for a renter or student here, in short paragraphs and everyday words.
  4. Medical reviewDr. Patel reads health-related material, including how the evaluation works and how conditions are described.
  5. Publish with citationsEach article lists its references so readers can confirm the main points on their own.

What medical review covers

Dr. Patel checks that our descriptions of anxiety, depression, PTSD, panic attacks and the evaluation are accurate and responsible. He also makes sure nothing implies approval is automatic or that a pet can stand in for treatment.

His review is clinical, not legal. Legal explanations rest on the documents we cite, and we flag topics where your situation calls for an attorney.

Keeping pages current

ESA rules moved quickly in 2025 and 2026. HUD pulled its 2020 animal guidance as of September 17, 2025, and replaced its enforcement approach with a memo dated May 22, 2026. Shifts like those prompt us to rewrite every page they touch and refresh its review date.

City office contacts, campus policies and airline pet rules change with little warning, so we recheck them on a recurring schedule too.

Corrections

Think something's wrong? Email support@esalettertx.com, name the page, describe the problem and add a source link if you have one. We compare the claim against the original document and repair confirmed errors quickly. When a fix changes the practical advice, the page says so.

What stays off the site

  • Made-up statistics, quotes, ratings or testimonials
  • Claims that a landlord, school or airline has to honor a letter
  • Any suggestion that ESAs may enter stores or restaurants the way trained service dogs can
  • Facts that no official source could confirm

Common questions

Who does the medical review?

Dr. Andrew Patel, the physician who also signs ESA letters for our patients, reviews health-related pages.

Does an attorney review the legal articles?

Legal pages are written directly from the official text of the laws and agency documents they cite. They're general information, not advice about your particular case.

How can I tell whether a page is current?

Look for the review date on the page. Big rule changes, such as the May 2026 HUD memo, set off a review of every page they affect.

Can I request a topic?

Please do. Email support@esalettertx.com; questions from Texas renters and students drive our writing schedule.

Do you take paid placements?

No. Articles carry no sponsored content. The only thing we sell is the evaluation and, when approved, the letter.
